SELA Data Review

1.Intro #

The Texas Special Education Language Acquisition (SELA) submission will submit language acquisition for students:

  • Age 8 and younger, as of September 1,
  • Who is deaf or hard of hearing
    • based on DISABILITY-TYPE codes 02-Deaf-Blindness (Deaf-Blind)
    • or 06-Hearing/Auditory Impairment (Auditory Impairment).

NOTE: The submission is not required if there are no eligible students.

2.Load Data - File Center #

File Center/Data Sources/ SELA

Browse to SELA xml interchanges extracted from SIS, using Green Upload bar.

1. Interchange Education Organization Extension
2. Interchange Student Parent Extension
3. Interchange Student Program Extension

 

  • Once uploaded, click on the file to open it up and see that all the interchanges loaded correctly.

3.TSDS Rules #

Located on blue menu bar.

  • Select SELA on left in black navigator box.
  • View Fatals, Warnings and Specials by clicking on the count in the numerator.

 

See detailed lists of students by using “Excel Detail” box ( top right) or drill down into the Business Rule link.

 

Click on the hyperlink for each error to drill down to the error level detail.

C= Conditionally Mandatory

Select multiple criteria options and use filter(s) as needed.

 

EXAMPLE:

Click on the count to see the list of student’s names.

 

Use “Column Options” to add Columns and make a roster.
